Course Description
This foundational course provides a comprehensive introduction to modern Fire Alarm Systems, covering key concepts, core components, and essential terminology. Designed for aspiring fire protection professionals, facility managers, electricians, and safety personnel, the course explores system functions, detection and notification devices, control panels, and common system configurations. Students will gain a solid understanding of how fire alarm systems operate, their critical role in life safety, and how to identify the basic types of systems used across residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Emphasis is placed on relevant codes and standards, including NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code), and the International Building Code (IBC). Supplemental handouts included in cost of course.
